A series of colour portraits documenting rural events including fêtes, Halloween festivities, Guy Fawkes night and village plays.
Originally inspired by the photographs made by Sir Benjamin Stone as he travelled around Britain recording customs and festivals in the 1900s, this work, observing rural rituals acts as a metaphor for something more sinister lying behind the scenes of village life. Fox has become known for her extensive documentation of rural life in Southern England and is keen to dispel the myths created by popular, “chocolate box” imagery of the countryside.
