Back to the Village

A series of colour portraits documenting rural events including fĂȘtes, Halloween festivities, Guy Fawkes night and village plays.
Originally inspired by at the photographs made by Sir Benjamin Stone as he travelled around Britain recording customs and festivals in the 1900s, these new photographs of rural rituals act as metaphors for something more sinister lying behind the scenes of village life. Fox has become known for her extensive documentation of rural life in Southern England and is keen to dispel the myths created by popular imagery of the countryside.
